Fiddletown’s All About the Music

Fiddletown is known for its rich musical history dating back to the Gold Rush. This tradition continues with the annual Fiddlers’ Jam held the third Saturday of September, plus “house concerts” held locally and at the historic Fiddletown Community Center. See you at the next event!

High Grade Jug Band – Eight musicians from Amador City area. Accomplished Juggist augmented by guitars, ukuleles, washboard, fiddle, keyboard and vocals.

Jack Magee – Well known Marine Corps vocalist. Famous for his powerful renditions of our National Anthem. Will open the starting ceremony with Lee Greenwood’s ‘Proud to Be An American’

Giorgi Khokhobashvili – Highly accomplished violinist and teacher will perform The National Anthem from the roof of the Community Center next to the giant fiddle.

Silver City – Fresh back from the East Coast, after decades of musical performance, leaders Leta and Dan are now anchored in Folsom.  Silver City provides high quality bluegrass music with a mix of classics and original tunes.  The band will include a mandolin player, with fiddle added by Giorgi Khokhobashvili

Rick Sims and ‘Alittlebitof fiddle’ – These are senior professional performers and teachers, based in the Folsom area. Rick is a 5-string banjo and guitar player formerly of “The Possum Rescue Project”. He will team with award winning fiddler, Tom Gunterman (Alittlebitoffiddle)    (Tom won our fiddling contest last year.)  These are high level musicians; expect top notch Americana country and bluegrass sounds.

The Acapella Bellas – Back by popular demand, Gerry Brennan’s Acapella Bellas are four talented & fun-loving ladies bringing their precise acapella style singing to the Jam.  They hold your attention with an eclectic array of favorites, including spirituals & Americana.

Nedra, Julio and Friends – Colorful veteran musicians. Julio is a country finger-picking guitarist – metal picks;  Learned harmonica diva, Nedra, produces seldom heard harmonica sounds. From traditional jazz to authentic country, these folks unique style will complement the rest of the performances. For this year’s Fiddlers Jam, they plan to augment their instrumental side with a bass and mandolin

Ron Scofield & friends – Perhaps the most pleasant voice we’ve ever heard, Ron Scofield, a real cowboy for over 70 years, will accompany himself on guitar and sing some authentic cowboy songs seldom heard any more. “Goodbye to Montana”, is a local favorite.

All – Ron Scofield will lead an assemblage of singers and musicians to close out the day with Amazing Grace. This performance has turned into an almost magical happening in past years that no one wanted to end–musician and audience alike.  Join in this year.
